Carpet Cleaning

Courtesy Care goes to great lengths to ensure that our clients receive the very best carpet cleaning services. Our teams work diligently to meet your individual needs and to extend the life, attractiveness, and utility of your carpeting for as long as possible. Having your carpets cleaned can also help improve the indoor air quality in your home by removing dust, allergens, and other particles trapped in your carpets.

When you invite a Courtesy Care Certified Technician into your home, you will receive excellent care from knowledgeable carpet and fabric care professionals. We know how different fabric fibers and fabric patterns are affected by cleaning agents and cleaning techniques and will ask several questions to determine the best method of removing dirt and stains from your carpet.

Our Carpet Cleaning Process

When you choose Courtesy Care, we provide a standard 10-step carpet cleaning process designed to leave your home with the cleanest carpet possible.

Step 1 – Protect Your Home & Furnishings

Before we begin, we will take the extra time to protect your home. We will use corner guards to protect your walls and walk-off mats to protect your floors.

Step 2 – Vacuum

We will pre-vacuum the areas to be cleaned using a HEPA vacuum. This helps to remove any loose soils before we begin cleaning.

Step 3 – Move Furniture

We will carefully move furniture using sliders to protect both your furniture and your carpet.

Step 4 – Spot Removal

We will attempt to remove all spots and stains. We provide a free bottle of Spot Out with lifetime refills for spot removal in-between professional cleanings.

Step 5 – Pre-treat and Condition

A pre-conditioning spray treatment is applied to help loosen soils and prepare the carpet for cleaning. Particular attention is paid to areas with heavy soiling or spots. After the pre-treatment spray is applied, we will agitate the carpet fibers to distribute the solution and allow it to work for 10-15 minutes. This helps release the soils from the carpet fibers.

Step 6 – Rinse and Extract

Using a high-powered wand or rotary tool, we will rinse the carpet with fresh, clean water and extract soils from the carpet until it is clean. We will treat all edges to ensure extraction.

Step 7 – Protect Furniture

Furniture will be placed on blocks or tabs to protect the furniture and to protect the carpets from staining until the carpets are dry.

Step 8 – Re-Apply Carpet Protector

We offer Scotchcard application if you would like to protect your carpets against stains and soiling. Scotchgard creates a protective barrier for your carpet fibers and protects against food and drink spills and helps your carpets look cleaner longer.

Step 9 – Groom & Dry

We will use high-powered dryers to dry the carpets faster and will use a rake to groom and reset the carpet pile for beautiful carpets.

Pet Treatment

We know you love your pets, and we do too! But sometimes pets can leave behind odors or stains on your carpets that can be difficult to treat. At Courtesy Care, our experienced technicians have advanced training in dealing with pet odors and stains. You’ll get fresh and clean carpets that look and smell great too.

Pet odors and stains require special treatment, especially pet urine stains. The urine will soak through the carpet and to the pad and to the subfloor below, and no matter how many times you clean the surface the stain will often reappear and the odor never fully goes away. We utilize special treatments combined with high powered extraction to reach deep below the surface of your carpets to effectively treat and remove pet urine.

FAQs

Why Is Professional Cleaning So Important?

Regular vacuuming is only able to do so much, and over time dirt and debris will collect in the fibers of your carpet and upholstery fabrics, requiring professional cleaning. Regular, professional cleaning will help save the fibers of your carpets and upholstery and protect your investment longer.

Q: How often should I get my carpets cleaned?

Frequently used carpet should be professionally cleaned by a qualified technician at least annually–perhaps a little longer interval for infrequently used carpet and even sooner for carpet in homes occupied by indoor pets and/or people who have allergies or respiratory system sensitivities.

We recommend to our clients and customers to refer to the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification(IICRC) S100 Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning serves as a guideline for recommending cleaning frequencies for carpet. The IICRC considers traffic, soil rating, vacuuming schedules, spot cleaning schedules and professional interim and restorative cleaning.

Q: How much does Courtesy Care charge to clean my carpets?

A: Due to each home being unique, we offer FREE inspections. During the inspection, we get the exact measurements of the areas you would like cleaned. It also gives us the opportunity to discuss with you the potential results, as well as make sure we are prepared to address your specific concerns when our technicians arrive to perform the service.

But never fear! You are under no obligation, nor will you be subjected to high-pressure tactics.

Q: Will having my carpets cleaned cause them to get dirty faster?

A: If cleaned properly, no. Actually, not having your carpets cleaned will cause great damage to the carpet. It is abrasive dirt that will cause your carpets to wear out prematurely or leave unsightly worn paths. In fact, most carpet manufacturer warranties require professional hot water extraction cleaning every 12 to 24 months. If carpets quickly re-soil after a cleaning, it is usually caused by excessive residue being left behind from the cleaning agents that were used. This can be a result of either not neutralizing pre-conditioners or not properly rinsing them from the carpet. Courtesy Care goes to great lengths to do both. We use “top of the line” Truck Mounted Hot Water Extraction equipment to insure we have the power to completely remove all soil and cleaning agents that were used. We go a step further by using a rinsing agent that will neutralize any residue that may remain. This allows us to get even the most soiled carpets looking good again without fear of premature re-soiling.

Q: How long does it take for my carpets to dry after cleaning?

A: There are many factors that come into play when determining carpet drying time. The humidity both inside and outside the home, air flow in the home, type of service used and how heavily soiled the carpet was all influence how quickly the carpet will dry after a professional carpet cleaning. On average, a cut pile carpet will typically take 6-12 hours to dry. Application of Scotchgard or odor treatments may add to drying time slightly.

Q: What is Scotchgard and is it really worth it?

A: Scotchgard is a protective barrier between the fibers and the outside world. A good illustration of how Scotchgard works is to compare it to how Teflon works in a skillet. It will repel most food and drink based spills, saving your carpet and upholstery from permanent staining. It also makes it difficult for soil to attach itself to the fibers, which means you will remove more dirt while vacuuming.

Scotchgard, however, is not “bullet-proof.” It does require standard good housekeeping practices to be effective. Standard spotting and vacuuming used in conjunction with Scotchgard protector will keep your carpets looking good and lasting longer.

Q: My carpet came with a stain resistant protector when I bought it, do I really need Scotchgard?

A: The cleaning process and agents that Courtesy Care uses do not remove the stain resistent protection that your carpet came with. However, it will wear away with regular foot traffic grinding abrasive soil into the carpet, which breaks down the protection, leaving your carpets vulnerable to permanent staining.

Applying Scotchgard to your carpets after each cleaning will keep the level of protection up over the years and extend the life of your carpet.
